Selling Scrip Online

24 May 2016 By Roger Devine

We’ve been asked often by the schools who use our software how to set it up for online scrip ordering. We used to discourage this, because of one big issue - the fees you pay your merchant processor for credit-card processing can eat up the margins on scrip.

But ever since we added the ability to have your buyers pay the card-processing fees, this concern has subsided. And this spring, we added in the ability for you to migrate item lists from master templates - making the population of a scrip-sales site much, much easier. All of a sudden it occurred to us that we should stop discouraging this use.

So, as of today, we are now enthusiastic proponents of using SchoolAuction.net to sell scrip online. We’re going to make it easy - by building catalogs that correspond to your scrip service center’s order forms. We’re starting with the Tigard-Tualatin Scrip Service Center order form, since that’s the one our kids’ schools use. We’ll build out other service centers’ lists upon request; just tell us that you want to use it, and we’ll make it happen.
